48 years old, Ms. Taslima Rashid from Bangladesh suffered from ischemic stroke and sought its treatment and management in India. She returned home to Bangladesh in less two weeks after her arrival in India.
An Ischemic stroke occurs when the brain does not receive adequate blood flow and oxygen due to a blockage in the artery connected with the brain. In such situations, it is essential to restore the blood circulation as soon as possible else it leads to permanent blood damage.
Ms. Taslima’s daughter connected with the Help to Heal Foundation seeking information related to which hospitals offers to treat acute Ischemic stroke patients. Her daughter revealed that Ms. Taslima was in a disoriented state and at a different level of consciousness. She had also vomited a couple of times. Ms. Indira, our patient coordinator provided a list of hospitals and treating doctors who could treat her mother.
Further as they communicated with each other, details of exact medical condition were revealed and further course of treatment was discussed. The case was referred to Dr. Sitla Prasad Pathak of the Max Super Speciality Hospital Vaishali, Delhi. He wanted to examine the patient physically, suggest and administer the most suitable treatment to her.
It was decided that Ms. Taslima would have to travel to India for the same to which they agreed and Ms. Indira processed their travel documents promptly. Ms. Taslima and her family arrived in India on December 23rd 2019. Upon her admission to the hospital and post checkup, Dr. Pathak suggested medical management protocol that had to be followed. Once her condition stabilized and she felt normal, she was discharged and could fly back home to Bangladesh i.e. on January 02, 2020.
Ms. Taslima and her family thanked Ms. Indira and the entire Help to Heal team for organizing their trip to India along with treatment at such a short notice.
