Robotic Surgery has emerged to be a reliable treatment option to treat various types of cancers. The main reason being it is minimally invasive while being extremely precise as the robotic arm can reach inner organs where the human hand can be difficult to reach.

54 YO Mr. Leonard Mbugua from Kenya was suffering from prostate cancer. He was suffering from stomach ache, had difficulty in passing urine and swelling. He would be running fever frequently too. Mr. Leonard was in worrisome state and hence he left an online query at the Help to Heal Foundation website seeking information on the treatments for prostate cancer available in India.

Ms. Namrata, our patient coordinator got in touch with him. She talked to him and understood his medical condition. Mr. Leonard sent his reports through email and his case was referred to

Dr. Manav Suryavanshi of Medanta Hospital, Delhi. This entire process took nearly 3 months.

Dr. Suryavanshi suggested that Mr. Leonard would require a robotic prostatectomy for which he would have to travel to India for a thorough check up and surgery as well. Mr. Leonard agreed to this and Ms. Namrata processed his travel papers including his ticket, medical e-visa and visa invitation letter and so on.

Mr. Leonard arrived in India on September 7, 2019 and was escorted by Mr. Prashant, our volunteer to Medanta Hospital for clinical investigations. Once his clinical investigations were through, the Robotic prostatectomy was performed on him with great success. He recovered well and was discharged soon.

By end of September 2019, Mr Leonard was given a clean health certificate and he flew back to Kenya in a much better shape. Mr Leonard and his family members were extremely satisfied with the assistance extended to them by the Help to Heal team.
