Posted by Ms .Sakina Asgarli 62 year old lady from Kenya was suffering from multiple health issues that required immediate medical attention. Her family was worried about her health and hence connected with the Help to Heal Foundation. They wanted information on the scope of treatment available in India to treat knee paid and kidney issues.
Ms. Namrata, our patient coordinator got in touch with Ms. Zubeida, her daughter seeking more information regarding her state of health. Ms. Sakina had issues with her knees and had a kidney stone too. Her main symptoms included stomach ache, difficulty in passing urine, pain in the leg and hence difficulty in walking.
Ms. Namrata referred her case to Dr. Gaurang Shah/ Dr. Shabbir Sutterwala of the Saifee Hospital. As per the doctors’s advice, Ms. Sakina would require knee replacement procedure and surgery for removing her kidney stone. Both the doctors suggested that she would be required to visit India for treatment purposes and further investigations.
After follow-ups for nearly 2 months, they agreed to visit India and hence Ms. Namrata processed their travel papers.
Also, she arranged for Mr.Tarandeep, our on field volunteer to provide them assistance during their stay in India. It was Mr. Tarandeep who received them at the airport on July 22 2019 and accompanied them to the hospital etc. Dr. Gaurang Shah treated her for kidney stone while Dr. ShabbirSutterwala performed her knee replacement procedure.
After a fresh round of medical investigations and reports, Ms. Sakina underwent a unilateral knee replacement and a surgery to remove the kidney stone. Both the surgeries were successful and she recovered very fast i.e. within 3 weeks.
Ms. Sakina and her daughter flew back to Kenya in August 2019. They were happy that Ms. Sakina had recovered well and thanked the Help to Heal Foundation for their assistance and cooperation.
