Help to Heal Foundation provided assistance to aged Bangladeshi national, Mr. Md Nabiul Islam who was experiencing lot of problems while lying down i.e. he would start coughing. This meant that he could not rest or sleep properly.
His family members especially Mr. Saiful Islam, his son-in-law connected with the Help to Heal team asking for guidance on which hospital in India offers best yet affordable treatment in lung cancer. Also, he wanted to know the best cancer doctors who could treat his father-in-law.
Ms. Riddhi, our patient coordinator got in touch with them through phone and email. They exchanged a lot of information relating to lung cancer treatment available in India, list of hospitals and doctors for the same across India along with the duration of stay required in India and so on. This exchange went in for a month or two before they agreed to visit India for the same.
Mr. Md Naibul and his son-in-law arrived in India on March 4, 2020 and visited S L Raheja Fortis Hospital for their first appointment. They were referred to Dr. Suresh Advani, an eminent senior oncologist who advised that Mr. Md Nabiul would require chemotherapy followed by a surgery.
Mr. Md Naibul underwent one session of chemotherapy in India and flew back to Bangladesh. He was provided with a chemotherapy protocol to follow in Bangladesh before visiting India for his surgery.
Ms. Riddhi did a couple of follow-ups with Mr. Md Nabiul who revealed that he was quite well and his food intake had improved greatly.
We would like to highlight one key fact here. Since the patient and his relatives could speak and understand Bangla language. It was our patient coordinator, Ms. Riddhi who played a key role in communicating between the parties involved viz. the patients, his family members, the doctors and the hospital authorities and even our Help to Heal Foundation team members.
It was due to her diligent and persistent efforts that Mr. Md Nabiul Islam could visit India and recover from his lung cancer condition. Md. Nabiul Islam and his family expressed deep gratitude to Ms. Riddhi and the Help to Heal foundation for their efforts
