Nigerian citizen Mrs. Agatha Ikposhi trusted India to treat her for Stomach Cancer

It comes as no surprise that Indian medical fraternity is relied all over by the world for their expertise and experience. Our medical expertise and acumen is one primary reason that Medical Tourism in India is growing by leaps and bounds.

Take for instance, Ms. Agatha Ikposhi from Nigeria relied on the Help to Heal Foundation to help in locating an experienced oncologist and hospital who could treat her stomach cancer and regain her health.

In response to this online query, Ms. Namrata, our patient co-ordinator from Help to Heal foundation got in touch with her through phone and understood her medical condition. Further, they exchanged medical reports and doctor’s opinion through email and telephonic conversations.

Ms. Namrata guided her to consult Dr. Donald Babu, a senior oncologist at the Fortis Hospital, Vashi. Fortunately, Ms. Agatha understood the line of treatment suggested by Dr. Donald Babu and agreed to visit India for her treatment.

Ms. Namrata provided prompt assistance in arranging for medical e-visa, airline ticket booking and other allied services to Ms. Agatha. Without further delay, she arrived in India with her family in February 2019.

Further clinical investigations and reports revealed that Ms. Agatha would require a surgery to remove the tumour growing in her stomach followed by a couple of radiation sessions.  Dr. Donald Babu performed the tumour removal surgery but some part of the tumour could not be removed and hence she had to undergo radiations sessions for the same that would make removal of existing cancer cells in her body. After undergoing radiation, she was given discharged and even allowed to fly back to Nigeria.

As decided earlier, Ms. Agatha returned to India for a regular medical checkup after a span of 8 months and was declared to be cancer-free. Indeed, this was a great news and Ms. Agatha was truly happy. She expressed her good fate that she got affordable and the right cancer treatment in India. Also, she felt very lucky that she could live a normal life despite being a cancer survivor.
